WHAT IS THE SETTING OF THE STORY? The setting of the book is on multiple baseball fields and Nick’s home in Connecticut. This book would take place in present day.
GIVE A BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE BOOK: Nick Crandall was adopted and lives with his foster parents. Nick is a very talented catcher in baseball. He is only in 7th grade when he was moved to the varsity baseball team. All of the other players on the team make fun of Nick. That puts pressure on Nick so he doesn’t perform well in practices. Luckily, Coach Williams the head coach, knows he has it in him to do good. Ever since Nick has been on varsity, his grades have gone down. Both of Nick’s parents are very strict about school. They threaten to take baseball away from him if he doesn’t bring up his grades. Will Nick get his grades up? Will the varsity players treat Nick better? Will Nick perform well in the most important game of the season? Find out by reading the book.

WHAT DID YOU THINK OF THE BOOK? I liked this book since it was mostly about baseball which is my favorite sport. Mike Lupica is also my favorite and I like every book that he has wrote. It wasn’t my favorite book ever but overall it was pretty good. I would mostly recommend this book to boys.
