Annabel's Review of Sapphire Blue by Kerstin Geir
The sequel to Ruby Red
Ever since she found out she was the Ruby her life has changed exponentially. And between all the time traveling, trying to figure out her feelings about Gideon, she barely has time to try to make sense of the prophecy and what the circle of twelve really means. But now she is trying harder than ever to understand the mess that she had found herself tangled in, but at least she still has ever faithful Lesley and Xemerius to help her along the way.
I can't lie I had high expectations for this book. The last book had been absolutely thrilling and I could not wait to get my hands on this one! Once I started I was immediately drawn in by Gideon and Gwen's dialogue, though I wish in the beginning of the book you saw more of the background characters. Towards the middle of the book however I began to think that it was better than the first because there was even more action and, may I add, a little more romance. The end of force was also great but it leaves you at such an exciting part! It was exceptionally annoying but then again it made me want to read the next book, so I guess the author did her job. Overall this book was fantastic and I definitely recommend it.

Annabel's Review of Matched By Allie Condie
This book is about a seventeen year old girl named Cassia living in a desktop in a world where people are matched to their mates when they are seventeen. Cassia is matched to her friend but when she gets to see a picture of her mate someone else appears on the screen. Cassia is immediately intrigued and curious so she takes it to herself to find out who he is.
I enjoyed this book but it was not my favorite by far. The dialogue was a little weak in my opinion, but the description of the characters and setting I think was very expertly portrayed. Cassia was a good character because she had a lot of spirit and curiosity, but she was very difficult to read (no pun intended) and she was difficult to relate to. This book kinda reminds me of a Divergent , or the Hunger games because all the books are set in a weird dystopian world where things are very cookie-cutter and everyone is the same except for the main character and one love interest. This book was okay, but it was not my personal favorite. I would recommend this to someone who liked Divergent or The Hunger Games.

Annabel's Review The Coldest Girl in Cold Town By Holly Black
This book is about Tana a normal teenage girl, who gets caught up in the world wind that is the vampire race. One day she wakes up at a party surrounded by bloody corpuses, And the only survivors are her ex boyfriend who got bit and is at the edge of madness, and a vampire who is chained to a bed. Knowing there is no way out of the mess that she has just found herself tangled in she decides to try and save them. That means she must take them to Coldtown, a place overrun by infected people, and bloodthirsty vampires.
I somewhat enjoyed this book but I'm not gonna lie, it kind creeped me out. The main character Tana I very much liked at the beginning of the story because of her kind and intelligent personality but towards the end she became reckless and crazy. All the characters in this book has the same effect as Tana because they all became increasingly more dark and dangerous as the book went on. I think that this book could have been shorter because I found that it was using a lot of filler storyline not actual important information. The end however was very well written and I really enjoyed the romance between Tana and G in the end, because earlier in the book their relationship was more intense than playful and romantic. Also in the end all the pieces really fell into place and, I appreciated that since it was coming from such an book. I do not think I would recommend it, but if you enjoy thriller or vampire books then maybe this is for you.

Jack D. Review of The Eye of the Mind by James Dasher
The book I read during Library was The Eye of Minds the main characters are a boy named thomas, a girl named sarah, and another boy named Bryson. The setting is in a world with technology that can put you in the world of virtnet. Virtnet is giant game that everyone plays to get into virtnet use a virtnet coffin which makes you feel like you're inside the game literally. Inside the virtnet you can feel pain if you get hurt you will get hungry and thirsty. Thomas is a boy who dreams of being the top gamer in virtnet but gets himself into bigger problem than he ever thought. The VNS aka the Virtnet Security finds Thomas to help them catch a virtual terrorist named Kaine who is killing people by messing with their codes in virtnet. Usually people don't die from dieing in virtnet because theres a thing call a core inside you that keeps what's real and what's not apart. Thomas is hired to find this criminal and he decides to bring his friends along to help. His friends are Sarah and Bryson they never met in the real world only in Virtnet but are Thomas best friends. Thomas, Sarah, and Bryson are all gamers and hackers. Hacking in the Virtnet gets you food, water and anything you want to have fun. On their adventure to find Kaine they find out he is hiding out in a secret location in Virtnet called the Path. Not many people know about this secret maze and tunnel that leads to the forbidden place called the Hallowed Raveen. To get through the path it requires strength, intelligence, courage and good hacking skills. During the journey they find out they're up against something bigger than just a hacker. I can’t say anything else about the Path since it spoils the book. I thought this book was one of my favorite books i've ever read. Its by far the most interesting and I like the author James Dashner who wrote the Maze Runner series.

Bailey's Review of the The Knife of Never Letting Go
Author: Patrick Ness
Genre: Science Fiction/ Fantasy
Setting: Prentisstown
Main Character: Todd Hewitt
What is the Author Trying to Tell us: Well I guess he isn’t trying to tell us anything but I could guess that he might be telling us to control your thoughts or something.
What do I think of the book: I loved this book, it left me on the edge of my seat. I would recommend this book to anyone.
Plot: While walking in the woods with his dog Manchee, a thirteen-year-old boy named Todd Hewitt discovers something, silence. This would be completely ordinary for you and me, but not for Todd. Todd lives in a town called Prentisstown which has some terrible disease where you can hear everybody's thoughts. There is constantly noise everywhere. So you can imagine the shock when Todd discovers this. Todd ends up in life-threatening danger and is left going on the run. What happens you ask? You’ll have to read the book to find out.

The lesson I learned from this book is that even though you are on the verge of defeat always persist and believe and you will always succeed.
I really like this book because this book was full of action, and mystery.

Jonathan"s Review of 'sHarry Potter the Sorcerers Stone by J.K Rowling:
SciFi/Fantasy. The main character of this book is a boy named Harry Potter. This book is a great read for wizard and witches fans its filled with potions wands and of course MAGIC! Harry was first living with his aunt and uncle who were not very nice to Harry. But one day Harry received a letter from Hogwarts a wizard school. Harry’s uncle burned every letter Harry received. Then they moved to a house because their old house was flooded with letters. They were then greeted by a giant man named Hagrid and thats when the magic started. A few days later their house was flooded with the same letters. J.K.Rowling is trying to show us what a world filled with magic would be like.I thought this was a good book i would give it 4 ½ stars it was a book that had a lot of fun.

Alyson's Review of Matched By: Ally Condie
Cassia has trusted the Society to make the right choices for her: what to read, what to watch, what to believe. So when Xander's face appears on-screen at her Matching ceremony, Cassia knows he is her ideal mate . . . until she sees Ky Markham's face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black. The Society tells her it's a glitch, a rare malfunction, and that she should focus on the happy life she's destined to lead with Xander.
I think the author is trying to tell us to hold on to now and our pass. To not let someone tell you what to wear, eat, love, how to write, your work who you are.
I liked the book i think it would be more like a girl book but not to says boys would not like it.

Chris's Review of The Blood Of Olympus
The setting changes a lot throughout the book, but mainly the setting sticks to Europe, Mainly Greece, Rome, and Athens. They travel around on the Argo II, The celestial bronze flying ship that Leo created.Nico had warned them. Going through the House Of Hades would stir the demigod’s worst memories. Their ghosts would become restless. Nico may actually become a ghost if he has to shadow-travel with Reyna and Coach Hedge one more time. But that might be better than the alternative: allowing someone else to die, as Hades foretold.Jason’s ghost had been his mother, who abandoned him when he was little. He may not know how he is going to prove himself as a leader, but he does know that he will not break promises like she did. He will complete his line of the prophecy: To storm or fire the world must fall.Reyna fears the ghosts of her ancestors, who radiate anger. But she can’t allow them to distract her from getting the Athena Parthenos to Camp Half-Blood before war breaks out between the Romans and the Greeks. Will she have enough strength to succeed, especially with a deadly hunter on her trail?
Leo fears that his plan won’t work, that his friends might interfere. But there is no other way. All of them know that one of the Seven has to die in order to defeat Gaea, the Earth Mother.
Piper must learn to give herself over to fear. Only then will she be able to do her part at the end: utter a single word.
The author is trying to mix old Greek and Roman mythology into the real world and teach kids that if you never give up and give it your all, you will succeed, even if you face terrible troubles along the way.I thought that this book was one of the best books I have ever read. I recommend it to any reader who loves action and adventure. My only concern is that you read the rest of the Heros of Olympus series first, starting with the Lost Hero.

Abby's Review of Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
The main character is Katniss Everdeen. She is a 17 year-old who just had her birth district blown to pieces by the Capitol. She is now living underground in the unknown district 13. She is brave and is ready to fight. There is only one thing she wants to do the most...kill Snow. She also is willing to do anything to keep her younger sister, Primrose Everdeen, safe. Her life is an emotional rollercoaster, but she is confident in what she does to get through this roller coaster. One thing she wants as much as to kill Snow is Peeta Mellark. She sees Peeta and sees that he looks like he was tortured. Once he reaches 13 Katniss runs too see him. Once she reaches his room and his eyes she expects his arms to be around her torso, but they clamped on to her neck.
The setting takes place in the chilling winter. The places are District 13 and the dreaded Capitol where they fought their battles. There is now exact time this took place but I estimate it takes place in the future.
After her second time in the arena, it is no longer child’s play. She finds that her district of her district of birth blown to pieces and has to live in the dark underground District 13. She visits her birth district to find a white rose in a pot of dead flowers. This means President Snow caused this mess. This means war and she wants revenge. She tells the head of District 13 tha she is killing Snow if they want her as their “Mockingjay.” Something she wants more than to kill snow is Peeta Mellark. She sees him sees torture in his eyes. She finds him in a hospital room and runs in to greet him. She expects her hands around her torso, but they latch on to her...neck. That is only the start of the horrible. There is suspense, tense moments, scary moments, and death. You will have to read the book to find out if the Mockingjay will fly.
The author is trying to say is fight to save the people you love and never forget a promise you made.
I enjoyed the book because of the suspense and the fact that they were in actual combat instead of just killing people in an arena. I definitely recommend this book to people who enjoy combat and I also recommend to read “The Hunger Games” and “Catching Fire” which are the first two books of “The Hunger Games” series.

Autumn's Review of Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevins
Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevins is a Fantasy book starring Liz Hall a 15 year old girl who has passed away after being hit by a taxi cab. The
book takes place for the most part in Elsewhere but for brief moments Liz comes in contact with Earth.
This book is about how Liz copes with her death and the people she left behind. She tries to speak to her parents multiple times but it fails and she ends up getting her little brother in trouble. When Liz arrived to Elsewhere she meets her grandmother she had never meet, and one of her idols from her favorite band. Life (or death) had changed for Liz when she arrived because instead of getting older she gets younger and eventually she goes back to earth, and instead of having a job she has an advocation. Will she find love, get her heart broken, enjoy her time, or try to escape elsewhere.
I loved the way this book was written because it got right to the point and you were never bored while reading it. I have read a few other books by Gabrielle but this was by far my favorite because it was like nothing I had read before. I believe the author was trying to say life is a precious gift and every day is a new day, a new chance to try again.

Casey's Book Review of Every Day Book by Casey Nordberg
Every Day by David Levithan is a fantasy book about somebody named A. A leads a different life every day, he can wake up in a body of any gender or any race. When A wakes up in Justin’s body, he meets Rhiannon and instantly falls in love. He continues to chase Rhiannon throughout the book and continues to fall more and more in love. I found this book hard to put down and very intriguing, with just enough romance so that it doesn’t get boring but still makes sense and keeps the story on a good level. I feel that the message that the author is trying to send in this book is that it’s what’s on the inside that matters, not the body or appearance. I found that David Levithan’s idea of somebody hopping from body to body was smart and entertaining. If you like fantasy or romance novels, I think that you will enjoy this story. This is also a good book for you if you are like me and you like realistic fiction.

Jessica's Review of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone
Main Characters:The main characters in this story is Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.
Setting: The setting in this story is at the school for wizardry, Hogwarts.
Plot: The plot of this story is Harry, Ron and Hermione have to save and protect the sorcerers stone from an evil wizard, Voldemort. The stone gives people immortally, so if Voldemort gets it, he will never die. Voldemort has tried to kill Harry once, but the spell backfired and hit him instead. Voldemort fled, but not without plans of revenge for Harry. Harry has to watch his back, protect his friends, and worry about exams all at once. Will he survive?
I think the author is trying to tell us that even though Harry has so much to worry about, he will protect his friends for anything. The author is telling us that if you are loyal to your friends, they will be loyal to you.
I thought the book was really good. It had a great plot and the characters were very funny. There were only a couple boring spots.

Annabel's Review of Ruby Red by Kerstin Geir
Gwyneth is a young girl in modern-day London, living with her mother, sister, and several other relatives. Her cousin Charlotte however to have the supposed " Time travel gene" that has been passed down in their family for generations, only she doesn't have it, Gwyneth does. All of this and more is in the book Ruby Red.
I
I really enjoyed this book, it was both interesting and fast paced which, together make a beautifully constructed book. Also it had a little romance between the two main characters which adds another element to this book which I personally enjoyed. The whole concept of time travel really intrigues me and I really enjoyed having the main character be a girl, it helped me relate to the book more. If I was to rate this book on a scale of 1-5 I would give it a 5. I would give it this number because this is probably one of the best books I have ever read! It perfectly combines romance, adventure, and normal life and mI would recommend this book to all my friends.
Review by Alden- The 13th Reality, The Journal of Curious Letters. Author - James Dashner
The thirteenth reality is a fantasy book and takes place at present time. The main character in this book is Attacis, most people call him “Tick” for short though. This book takes place on multiple worlds, from Alaska to Bermuda triangle, from the thirteenth reality to the Grand Canyon.
Tick was a normal kid, he got bullied and went to school. Tick then started receiving letters signed M.G. Tick is offered to start a “quest” that could be deadly and harmful but Tick accepted it. Tick meets up with two other people who have decided to join the mission, a girl from Italy and a boy from Florida. They all solve the riddles given to them to complete the mission and get sent to the person sending to letters, Master George. In this book the author tries to tell you that nothing is impossible and also that if you persevere you eventually succeed one way or another. I enjoyed this book and read all of the other books in the series, this book it action packed and very well written.
Anonymous Review of The Maze Runner By James Dashner
The Maze Runner is about a boy named Thomas. In the book Thomas wakes up in lift only remembering his name, when the lift stops he is greeted by 20-30 boys all trapped in a place called the Glade. For some reason none of the boys remember anything other than their names. The Glade is surrounded by tall stone doors that close every night. behind those walls is a maze that the gladers believe is their only way out. in the Glade they’re different jobs, one of those jobs are the runners, every morning the doors open and the runners look for a way out. The keeper of the runners is named Minho, he has run every inch of the maze but yet has not found a way out yet and they have been searching for 2-3 years. When Thomas shows up things start to change. When Minho, Alby, and Thomas get stuck in the maze overnight they achieve something that has never been done before., they survive. Every night when the doors to the maze close the maze walls change and the grievers come out they are these creatures that are almost designed to keep them in the glade. After they survive a night in the maze Minho kinda takes Thomas under his wing and teaches Thomas about the maze and the information that the graders have collected so far. Then a girl gets sent to the glade with a very important message. If you want to know how it ends then you have to read the book.
I think this was such an important story because it teaches you about brotherhood and about working together theres no love story or anything like that, I also think you can accomplish anything if you believe you can.
Honestly I loved this book because I think the lesson that came with it was a very important one.

Elsa A.'s Review of Saving Julie by Suzanne Selfors
The title of my book was Saving Juliet. The author was Suzanne Selfors. The genre of my book was fantasy. The main character was Mimi Wallingford. The story takes place in a small theatre in New York City and in Verona, Italy in the Shakespearean tale of Romeo and Juliet. Mimi does not like acting in Romeo and Juliet. She wishes that she could be anywhere else including Verona. The magic ashes from her necklace swirl around her and fellow actor Troy Summer. She ends up in the story of Romeo and Juliet. Since she is not supposed to be there she changes the story. Do Romeo and Juliet survive or does a tragedy always stay a tragedy? I think the message the author is trying to convene is that things can be changed for the better. I thought the book was really interesting. I liked it because it was a modern version of Romeo and Juliet with a couple twists and turns.

- Liam R.'s Book Review of Pengragon by D.J. Machale.
- This book is a fantasy novel. The main character is Bobby Pendragon. The book takes place on Second Earth and Cloral, two separate dimensions.
- This is the second book in the Pendragon series. The plot starts when Bobby and his Uncle Press arrive on Cloral. They are travelers, which means they can travel between the ten universes of Halla using Flumes. This is Bobby’s third dimension he’s been to, other than Second Earth, his home, and Denduron, which is where he defeated Saint Daine before. He saw the “Saint” leave to Cloral, and has to follow him. When he reaches Cloral, he discovers it is a world covered with water. He meets a new friend, named Vo Spader. Spader is a cool guy. Uncle Press tells him Spader is the traveler from Cloral, but he doesn't know it yet. Then the habitat, or giant floating ship, they are on, Grallion, gets hit by another habitat. Then things get crazy.
- The author of this series is trying to tell us anything is possible, as these books are pretty crazy.
- I liked this book, and as someone who has read all ten novells, the series as a whole. The writing is solid, the characters are good, and the plots are complex. The series is a good read for middle schoolers, and is generally from 300 to 600 pages long.
George G.'s Review of Leviathan By Scott Westerfeld
In my opinion Leviathan and the other books in it’s trilogy are some of the best steampunk books ever made. It captures the nature of steampunk perfectly by blending the past and the future. Leviathan takes place in the beginning of WW1. Germany and Austria relying on machines clash with the genetically modified beasts of Britain and Russia. There are two main characters in this book. One is Prince Aleksandar of Hornburg. In the first chapter of the book his parents are killed and World War 1 is started. Alek steals away with Count Volger and Otto Klopp master of mechaniks. Alek is hunted because he is the illegitimate but closest heir to the throne of Austria. Together they steal away to a secret castle in the Alps where they plan to wait out the war. At the same time Deryn Sharp readys for the Royal Air Test which she hopes she will pass and get in to the Royal Air force. There is one problem though, Deryn is a girl. She conquers this hurdle though, by pretending to be a boy. She passes the midshipmen's test and earns a position on the Leviathan a giant genetically modified whale that breathes in air and makes hydrogen. But when the Leviathan crash lands in the Alps Germans hot on their tail Alek is forced to help. Together with collaboration they take off and narrowly escape the Germans. All in all, I liked this book. One of the things I liked was that it was steampunk but not overly steampunk. The world was very imaginative and not cliche. It had an interesting story and intricate plot.
